"Going on a humanitarian trip to India was an amazing experience & a life long dream fulfilled. Sami did an outstanding job of planning & organizing this trip, she was an excellent guide, leader & resource. To get to experience the people & culture of India was such a gift. I can't wait to do this trip again!!" --AE, Phoenix
"Seldom have I ever seen growth in students as in circumstances such as we saw on this trip. Patient gratitude was palpable. We were able to give relief to people desperately searching for help. The students now know "I can do this medicine!" A phenomenal growth in our students. A recognizable widening public awareness of the capabilities of this medicinal modality. It was an incredible experience for our students and the public we served." --Dan Bedgood, professor at PIHMA college.
“The trip to India with Sami and the gang was a heart opening, life changing experience for me. Since I was young, I had always wanted to travel and to be of service to others in need. India has always been a place I felt connected to and this was a perfect chance for me to explore why while being of service. The temples were majestic, the poverty awakening, the traffic thrilling (sometimes terrifying), the food delicious, the Ganges and Himalayas awe-inspiring, but the best and most touching part of it all was the People. The warmth, welcoming, gratitude, respect, and love they showed toward us was truly heart transforming. It is a culture with a tremendous sense of community and humility. I helped provide a short term of medical services to people very much in need, but in exchange I received internal gifts and memories that will last a lifetime. India is a swirl of colorful organic chaos and peaceful devotion to the divine, grounded by immense humanity. I'm very grateful that I was able to fulfill a dream and share my experience with the wonderful group of people on our team and those that touched my heart and soul in India. Now that my heart knows the why, I'll definitely return when India calls to me again. Namaste.” –B.T., West Virginia
EXCELLENT CLINIC OPPORTUNITY
“This trip allowed the students to use what they have learned in a fast paced clinical setting. There were a number of challenges which made this opportunity an excellent place to use all that you have learned at PIHMA. Because we were in a country that covered their body extensively, we all had to use distal treatments and thus our Acu Microsystems class was extremely helpful. In addition, there were language barriers and we had to use interpreters to assist many of the patients. Even with the language barriers, we obtained a patient interview, diagnosed and completed a treatment plan. Both Dan Bedgood and Sami Rank are not only Licensed Acupuncturists but Supervisors at PIHMA who watched over and provided us with guidance. Each day we had to sign in, log our time in and out, and track the number of patients. The students who went were able to treat cases that we would never have had the opportunity to see at PIHMA. This opportunity allowed them to see a multitude of health issues, diagnose and treat them.” --L.E., AZ
