This is primarily a volunteer healthcare trip providing humanitarian aid to a community in need, using Acupuncture and other holistic medicine. Many places in India are lacking in funds and underserved in healthcare facilities. Doctors from around the world come to serve at the Parmarth Niketan charitable hospital, and sometimes the hospital sponsors medical camps at local villages to the people who cannot make it to the hospital. Rishikesh has many areas where cars cannot go, and so some villagers are stuck in the mountains without healthcare. More info is found through these links:
If you are a student intern at an accredited Chinese Medicine College, or if you are a licensed professional acupuncturist or naturopathic doctor, this trip is for you. Space is limited but there are always a few spots available for non-medical companions. Children need to be watched at all times and would need an additional adult companion.
Volunteers will complete aprox. 30 clinic hours
Professional LAc receives 10 PDA/CEU hours for NCCAOM
* (once every 4 year renewal cycle they allow humanitarian volunteer credit)
In addition, there will be some tours and free time for sightseeing.
